Intravenous (IV) therapy is a medical procedure that involves administering fluids, medications, or nutrients directly into a vein. Like vitamin infusions.

Hydration: IV therapy can rapidly rehydrate the body, especially in cases of dehydration due to illness, surgery, or excessive sweating. 

Nutrient Delivery: IV therapy can deliver essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This can be beneficial for people with nutrient deficiencies, malabsorption issues, or those recovering from surgery or illness. 

Detoxification: Some IV therapies include fluids containing antioxidants and other substances that may help detoxify the body by removing toxins.

IV therapy does involve a brief, sharp pain like a pinch during needle insertion, but should otherwise be painless once the IV is in place and functioning correctly. Some discomfort, such as bruising, soreness, or a cool sensation, can occur after the procedure or if the IV is improperly inserted. It is important to communicate any significant pain, swelling, or redness at the IV site to the medical team, as this could indicate complications like an infiltration or infection.
